Miles Apart

Her radiance didn’t fade away,
He was still chivalrous and charming,
But now she laughed less on his jokes,
And he took little notice of her mien.
The hands that went along everywhere,
Now estranged and seldom touched,
Seldom he complimented her,
And seldom she blushed.
They still shared the same roof,
And sat together on the porch,
She with her raw art spread around,
And He with his work and smoke.
They were together in this vicinity,
Lacking their beating hearts,
In all this closeness of distances,
They were miles apart.
